tough day

It is so hard to be a mom sometimes, especially in situations when knowing what to do is not so clear. How do you handle a 9 year old that hates herself, it is so sad and yet not completely shocking when she is constantly being told that the things she says and does are not ok, and yet many of these things that she does are not ok and you can't just pretend that they are. How do you help the self esteem of one so easily frustrated and explosive. It breaks my own heart to see her deal with this and yet it can be so hard to control my own frustration and anger when she is boiling over, when you just want her to knock it off and she doesn't. Not to mention the humiliation factor when these things occur in public places and in front of people you know. I just needed to vent some of these feelings and since almost no-one reads this blog I figured it was pretty safe to do that here.
